12 Facts From Golden Globe to Chess Championship Awards
1- World Chess Championship- It is played to know the champion in chess globally. The first championship match was held in 1886 between Wilhelm and Johannes in the United States, won by Wilhelm. From 1948 to 1993 chess championship was governed by FIDE, World Chess Federation. It is open to all players, there are different titles and titles given to women and junior chess championship.
The concept of world chess emerged at the beginning of the 19th century, the title ‘world champion’ came in 1845.
2- Pulitzer Prize- It is a series of awards for achievements in newspaper, magazine, online journalism, and musical composition in the United States. It is awarded by Columbia University, the New York City and fellowships are also awarded.
This award is made by Columbia University on the recommendation of teh Pulitzer Prize Board, composed of judges. This award varies from category to category over the years but now in journalism 14 prizes, 6 prizes in letter and 1 prize in music.
3- BET Awards- BET is an award show created by the Black Entertainment Television network to celebrate African Americans and other minorities in music, acting, sports and other fields of entertainment. BET started in 2001, an annual presentation ceremony by artists. The 19th edition of the BET award show was held at Microsoft Theatre, California.
BET trophy is influenced by three words- aspire, ascend and achieve was designed by Carlos. In 2007, the design of the trophy was enhanced using plated steel and black crystal.
4- Gold Medal- It is awarded for the highest achievement in non-military fields since the 18th-century gold medal has been awarded in the arts. Godal medal as a symbol of the award to recognize outstanding student and honor him/her.

Chelsie Kryst is the Miss USA of North Carolina, crowned on May 2, 2019, at Grand Sierra Resort in Reno. Many winners of Miss USA have entered into the entertainment industry and made their career.

6- Tony Awards- These awards are presented each year for excellence in Broadway Theatre. The full name of Tony Awards is the ‘Antoinette Perry Award for Excellence in Broadway Theatre’. Tony Award is similar to Grammy awards for music or Academy Awards for film. The Broadway wing and the American Theatre wing are responsible for presenting Tony awards each year in New York City.
Antoinette Perry, for whom teh Tony Awards are named, was an actress, producer, director and co-founder of the American Theatre Wing, who died in 1946.
7- Oscar Award- It is also known as Academy Awards, an award ceremony presented each year since 1929 to honor excellence in cinema. It is the oldest entertainment award ceremony, the first Oscar award was held at Roosevelt Hotel on May 16, 1929. Billy Crystal has hosted Oscar Awards for more than 5 times, Bob Pope hosted more than 10 times between 1940 and 1978.
Kathryn Bigelow was the first woman to win Oscar awards for best director, The Hurt Locker film.
8- American Music Awards- This award show recognizes the best artist and album. It is the first three big music awards held annually which include Grammy Awards and Billboard Music Awards. The trophy is manufactured by New York firm Society Awards. Keenen Ivory was the first Hollywood actor to host American Music Awards in 1991. The winners are determined by a poll of the public and fan, who can vote through the American Music Awards official website. Jimmy Kimmel hosted AMA show for teh four consecutive years, 2009-2012.
9- Miss India- It is a national beauty pageant in India that selects entrant to compete in Miss World, one of the major international beauty pageants. The first Miss India was Pramila from Kolkata, who won in 1947, at that time it was recognized by the local press and media. Miss India pageant has been participating in Miss Universe since 1952, Indrani Rehmani started.
In 1994 India’s beauty pageant wins at both Miss Universe and Miss World, the custom of the crowning single winner was discontinued, later the top three placers were designated with equal prizes and responsibilities.
10- Miss Venezuela- It is the national beauty contest of Venezuela, annually held in teh month of September. Prior to this crowning, two-three preliminary events are held, with teh awarding of corporate prizes. Miss Venezuela has gained popularity in the four big International beauty pageants with an outstanding record. Gabriela Isler is the 62nd Miss Universe titleholder and the new national director of Venezuela. There are 26 regions that participate in Miss Venezuela beauty pageant.
11- Golden Globe Awards- This award started at the beginning of 1944, then onwards subsequent ceremonies were held at various venues throughout the years. The first golden globe award was held in 1944 at Fox Studio, the first award was given to Cecil B. and then the official name became Cecil B. Award. The broadcast of this award is telecasted in 167 countries, the third most-watched award shows each year. This award is to acknowledge excellence in the film and television industry both national and international.
12- Miss America- It is an annual competition open to women from the United States between the ages of 17 to 25. Nia Franklin is the Miss America of New York, crowned on September 9, 2018. Miss America travels more than 10,000 miles a month to showcase her interest and passion in entire America, changing her location every 24 to 48 hours. Physical appearance is no more consideration factor.
